Vote David Benson-Staebler
For CD7 State Executive Committee
Our Party is at a critical moment in time. Whilst Jesus is hailed & praised for Trump's timely saving grace of our federal-state, our next Governor, if we get him or her a GOP Trifecta, along with the further empowerment of our having a GOP U.S. Senator, may save a better and bright future for Minnesota for generations.
It can fairly be said that it is the Dakotas, now, that have a more active prosperity--as we know better than the rest of the State. With the right changes in comprehensive statutory reform, Minnesota will see growth and a new era of family farm capitalization & reinvestment.
Vision
Mission
I served as Party Chair Alex Plechash's Campaign Manager for his "Alex for MN" race for that seat. It was a great pleasure and a great win. There was a great plan, and that plan was promised to SCC. It included a restructuring of the central Party Offices based on departmental organization: Field, Political, Finance, Communications, &, I would advocate, Technology, as a fifth department, these days.
Technology, in my opinion, should not follow the plan--certainly not be left the caboose in the planning. One hundred years and longer ago, when many of us had ancestors settling in Western Minnesota, farm operations were built around an engine, with planning done accordingly, by most of the most successful. Today, we should have campaign plans and strategy designed with having the feasible competitive edges that we make by working harder at the political. That is a significant reason that I have learned the technology essential for our online, telecom, and automated operations over the last several years. I make websites and databases with integrated communications--mostly for non-profits and private schools and charities--occasionally for politicians.
I have significant experience in all of the other departments of a fit political organization. Most of my nonprofit work has focused on education reforms, over the last four years, after spending three years learning the law at a judicial library, as was the fashion for most of our history. A retired Minnesota District Judge and early advisor and mentor of my education work and legal research and interests, suggested that I participate in the Party by attending SCC as a guest. I had only fully opened my eyes to the terrible realities of the Leftist path in 2014-2015.
There is no greater factor, in my opinion, that can rejuvenate the areas of our CD that need it, more than education reform. Parents and guardians being able to choose options that may be more family-building as an environment for youth to grow up in, or being able to choose options that may preserve their cherished worship or religious-formation traditions, will spring new life in abundance.
Our Legislators and candidates need our help. CD7 should lead, but where I am called to serve, if that is your elective decision, would be at the State Executive Committee. Chair Plechash has not been able to launch the organization that he needs, and I would make a significant collaborative impact. I would have working relationships with potentially half of the State Executive Committee, and I'm sure we could improve its role in improving our Party and its organized involving of the grassroots.
Objectives
I represented Stevens County fairly well at SCC in May of 2024, I had many folks thanking me for standing up to the attempts and Parliamentary maneuvers to basically cut SCC in half, which is literally the incorporated manifestation of the grassroots, within in our Party's structure. One of the measures debated, which was rejected by SCC, was to increase the amount of money for which the Chair and administration could avoid getting State Executive Committee approval, before engaging in a contract. Chair Hann wanted to increase the amount from $5,000 to $9,000, for which he would not need affirmative support of the Executive Committee (which is mostly CD representatives).
What I have learned, subsequently, from conversations with State Executive Committee members and other leaders, is that the Chair was or is being given allowance to essentially obtain approval for spending accounts as large as One Million Dollars, provided the Chair merely identify the purpose, e.g. "electioneering."
It does not add up with our written and binding policy decision as SCC and the grassroots organizations to reject raising the threshold of review from $5,000 to $9,000 and then have no oversight, outside of perhaps the inner circle of a chair, beyond the State Executive Committee approving a seven-figure account to be used for "electioneering," with, what I understand, was very little detail constraining for high-quality disbursements.
This is how we end up with a bruhaha at SCC in December of 2024, where Chair Hann admitted having promised a vendor that Chair Hann would never have to disclose the vendor's identity, even though the vendor was paid some $35,000 in 2024 on contract.
Written as an objective: our operations need to come into reasonable or appropriate compliance with our rules, our Party will be healthy when the involvement of the grassroots delegations is a bona fide part of the machine.
In my work on schools and our education bureaucracy, I, along with teams of volunteers operating in cells and as contributors to the efforts around the state, which is wonderfully sustained by donors, some of whom are also volunteers, the most foundational problem is the lack of transparency.
As Minnesotans, we have a strong tradition of sunlight shining upon government. Recently, the integrity of government operations has been degraded by numerous frauds. Government entities, including school districts, have capriciously shut down proper oversight attempts.
The often ridiculous diversion of school programs from academics into the ideological programming was bred by the lack of oversight.
How we must measure our organizational need is not merely our living up to normal organizational standards, the charge before us is to swiftly take the most effective actions to get us on track, so that we will have a good chance of overcoming the better funded and currently more organized force--now back directly with the DNC checkbook out of D.C.
Written as an objective: facilitation of our whole organization is essential and the work to implement the technological strategy that can feasible leverage our greatest force must be integrated into our development of the organization for our 2026 campaigns. The elected delegates and alternates of our Party and local organizing units must be engaged within our total force.
Specifically, and as I may further edit into more of a concrete list over the process of the next month, leading up to the election, I would go to State Executive Committee, if sent by this CD7 Convention, with a mind to seek the implementation of the structural reforms and the platform that he promised to enact, if he was elected Chair.
Some opportunity may be lost, but the game, which is for our 2026 Trifecta victory, is still very much in play. Sending out email updates is good, but what was promised and what is needed is the using of technology to harness the potential of the grassroots. The cost effective excellence in digital organizing is essential.
Our Legislative Session will still present us with opportunities to increase our competitive performance for voters right up until the end of Session. The better we can finish there, on the substance of the issues at debate, the more we can rely on soundly established facts of what we have and are offering voters with our Trifecta.
Fundraising discipline is will undoubtedly need to be increased, given what I know of how slow such efforts were to start. Fundraising success is not some simple equation of knowing and pleasing well-to-do folks; success depends of discipline and vigorous fundraising organization and operations. A solid machine impresses the big money. It would not be unreasonable for State Executive Committee to lead the administration to make a more organized effort. There should be a Finance head and the eventual team will need to work like the opportunity to do the work is a precious opportunity, which it should be, well run, teaching skill. I have been a successful Congressional Finance Director who ramped up the organization and call-time with massive increases to results. My more recent work with non-profits has enhanced my knowledge of coordinating volunteers in context of everyday life, as opposed to the sprint of election season.
Finally, I will mention that I have had a standing offer from one of the largest and most established credit-and-debit-card processors, with whom I have worked before on campaigns, to process the online, phone, and other card payments at a much lower rate than we currently pay and without vendors selling our donors' information to advertisers. It is reasonable to, at least, provide this as an option for active folks and donors who have grown to despise purchasing Convention Tickets, given the immediate and saturating spam. Neither Chair Hann nor Chair Plechash have implemented this option, which I have brought to both administrations. During the campaign, Chair, pledged without reservation that he would, so that sounds like an immediate piece of business worth bringing to Executive Committee, were I elected.
Thank you for your consideration. It is a pleasure serving the Party. We really have the opportunity to act, now.
Sincerely,
David Benson-Staebler
